Invisalign®

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign is a new and exciting way to have the straighter teeth you have always wanted. Made using state of the art computer and manufacturing technology, the Invisalign aligners are comfortable, versatile, and - most importantly - virtually invisible.

How Does Invisalign® Work? You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position your dentist has prescribed.

The process starts with a consultation with Dr. Bradley Sandvik. He can examine your teeth and bite and discuss if Invisalign is the right option for you.

An impression of your upper and lower teeth will be taken. The impressions are then scanned into a computer, which translates the impressions into a computerized model of your teeth. Using the treatment recommendations prescribed by Dr. Sandvik, the computer custom designs the movement of each tooth, and an aligner is fabricated for each stage of treatment.

You wear each aligner for two weeks, then move on to the next one. Each aligner is clearly labeled and easy to place. You will visit our office about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned and to pick up your next group of aligners. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

All the aligners are made at the beginning of treatment. Since you wear each aligner for 2 weeks, you are not only able to know in advance when your treatment will begin, but also when it ends. Another benefit of Invisalign aligners is that they double as teeth whitening trays. In fact, all Invisalign patients at Desert Shores Dentistry receive complimentary teeth whitening with their Invisalign treatment.
